happy easter, indeed.

I called my Mom a couple weeks ago to wish her a happy Easter and after we made small talk for awhile, she asked me, Did you get the package?!

I knew you sent one!, I said.

What do you mean you knew I sent one? I wrote my name on it.

Well, I kept checking because you always send me something for holidays but there was never a package so I started to feel sad, but I didn't want to ask you because I didn't want to bother you, and I just kept telling myself that you must have sent one and if you didn't, it was no big deal. But I knew you did! Because you're my mom and it's us.

And then she started to cry. She said she had sent it a month before and it should have been there within two weeks. I tried to calm her down and told her she had no reason to cry, it was only some candy and it was the thought that counted and I knew she loved me.

Eventually she calmed down but as we were saying goodbye, she started to cry again, probably because hormones because cancer (f*ck cancer!), but also because love.

Fast forward to yesterday when I checked my mailbox and there was a package and I got so excited that I ran into the hallway and told anyone that was walking by, Look! It's an Easter package from my mom! It came! We thought it got lost but it's finally here!

And then I went back to my class and messaged Tony to come because I wanted to open it with someone who would share my excitement. So I opened it and there were Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Berries, my favourites, and a crispy chocolate bunny, another favourite, and there were Kinder Surprises but they were smashed to bits but I didn't care because it was the thought and plus, I still got to build the toys inside (which everyone knows is the best part).

And there was this note:

And after I read it, I felt even more loved and even happier because she had sent me an Easter package twice. She sent it twice, I kept repeating, almost in awe.

And then I registered the last part of the note, Share with Tony!! and I felt even happier.

I am loved and they are loved and Happy Easter.
