i have a case of the going-back-to-beijing-blues.

It is similar to the Sunday Night Blues and the First Day of School Blues.

It's the feeling that something has come to an end. In this case, it's summer vacation and my time at home, in Canada.

It's saying goodbye to lazy days, friends, blue skies, fresh air, Mom, Dad, Nan, Tim Hortons, driving with the windows open and singing at the top of my lungs.

It's crossing things off the to-do list which was once a mile long but now just consists of two items: get waxed and pack.

It's feeling all of the feelings: excitement, sadness, happiness, longing, hope, I don't even know. (I don't even know is a feeling, right?)

It's knowing what to do, but being a little nervous anyway. In this case, it's wondering if you're doing the right thing.

It's a little hard to breathe right now—it has been for a while—but I think it's okay.

I'm going back to Beijing. I'm going home.
