i'm home!

First stop in the Toronto airport (after getting our luggage and the washroom, that is): Tim Hortons! I had a steeped tea AND a Dutchie. And if you don't know what a Dutchie is, you're missing out.

For some reason, I'm struggling to write this post. There's so much I could say, but I don't know that I need to. I'm home and it almost feels like I never even left.

Of course, I'm more excited about Tim Hortons than I was 10 months ago. And I feel a bit of pressure to cram a lot in over the next 8 weeks. I feel stressed about trying to divide my time between family, friends, and downtime for myself. I'm trying to fight jet lag. (I fell asleep last night at 5:30, missed supper, woke up at 10:30, fell back asleep at 12:30, and woke up for good this morning at 5:15.)

I feel calm, but I also have ALL OF THE FEELINGS. Does that make sense? I love that I'm home, but if I'm being 100% honest, part of me feels like I should have just stayed in Beijing. Of course, this is only Day 3. (Then again, this is only Day 3.)

  1. Hi Amanda, I think I found your blog through Amy Estes' blog, and just wanted to say I've really enjoyed reading of your adventures in China! :) My husband and I have been teaching in South Korea for about 6 years, and it's been such an experience. We'll be leaving this summer to teach in Qatar and we're going to miss Korea, but are excited for a new adventure. We're also excited that they have a Tim Horton's! I've been envious of all your drinks since you've been home. Haha. I hope you enjoy your vacation!

  2. Thanks so much, Amy! I know a few people who have taught in Qatar and I think they enjoyed it. They had interesting stories to tell! And I'M jealous you'll be living in a place with a Tim Hortons! I have to try to enjoy it as much as possible for the next 7 weeks haha.

  3. As you should! I would totally do the same. :) Luckily, my parents live in Qatar, so it'll make the experience even better! Oh, and Happy Canada Day! I can't wait to celebrate it next summer in the homeland.
